NYDW provides first-class training and performance opportunities for some of Wales’ most-talented and committed young dancers. It harnesses the energy and excitement of young peoples’ enthusiasm for dance and dancing, and channels it into a creative, contemporary force that celebrates the very best youth dance in Wales today.

NYDW has worked with some of the UK’s finest, award-winning choreographers – including Wayne McGregor (Random Dance) and Henri Oguike (Henri Oguike Dance Company). It has also performed in some of Wales’ most popular theatres (Clwyd Theatr Cymru in Mold, Theatr Brycheiniog in Brecon and Sherman Cymru, Cardiff), and at The Peacock Theatre in London.

Later this year, members of NYDW 2011 will be performing at the Royal Festival Hall at London’s Southbank Centre as part of a major youth dance festival, U.Dance 2012 – in addition, four members of NYDW are currently working with global contemporary dance phenomenon, Hofesh Shechter and a specially-formed U.Dance Ensemble for the same festival. So – opportunities abound for NYDW members!

Regional auditions for NYDW 2012 will be held on 5 May (Cardiff & Swansea), 12 May (Llandrindod Wells), 13 May (Carmarthen), 19 May (Newtown), 26 May (Caernarfon) and 27 May (Cardiff & Swansea). Applicants should be able to demonstrate active involvement with dance at an intermediate/high level, and must be available for the full two-week residency (16 August – 1 September 2012).

Applicants should have their family home in Wales, live in Wales or be studying in Wales to be eligible for NYDW; they must be aged between 16 – 21 years by 31 August 2012.
