Originally founded in 1933, Gregynog Festival is Wales' oldest extant classical music festival. Set principally in historic venues in rural North Powys, the modern Festival draws international artists, many making their Welsh debuts, to present special programming, curated by Artistic Director Rhian Davies on annual themes drawn from Wales' heritage. The 2016 theme is Eire, marking our connections with Ireland, from the Irish Saint Melangell and the mediaeval harp pins of Montgomery Castle to the prison camp at Frongoch where the rebels of the Easter Rising were held, 100 years ago.

International projects

Our annual themes offer international linkages. This year we are collaborating with institutions in Dublin, including joint commissioning. Our 2014 theme, War, took us to present our work in Brussels jointly with the Flemish Government. We have twice in the past been showcased by Welsh Government in the USA (Wahington and New York)
