The Board of The Audience Agency responded to a request from Audiences Wales to work with them on securing legacy work once closure had been decided upon. As a result from April onwards, Carol will provide and coordinate services drawing on the wider teams and expertise of The Audience Agency staff. This will protect and extend a number of programmes funded by local authority and development agency partners which are in the process of being transferred to The Audience Agency.

The initial range of support will include: networking events; strategic marketing support; training; primary research; consultancy services and access to profiling and analytics. This will be developed and added to with feedback from clients and consortia across Wales. The intention is to provide continuation of important training and capacity development issues in the immediate aftermath of the sudden demise of Audiences Wales.

Ivan Wadeson, Executive Director of The Audience Agency stated: ‘We were extremely sorry to hear that Audiences Wales has closed. It is a sad loss of a not-for-profit national agency, with long-formed and strong roots across Wales. For the last month we have worked with senior colleagues at the agency to preserve a number of key initiatives in 2014. We cannot replace this key part of the infrastructure but we can provide a degree of targeted support in their absence.’

Carol Jones is an independent cultural consultant, trainer and lecturer. She has considerable experience of working in the arts and cultural sectors across Wales and is currently developing a new resource for Arts Council Wales aimed at giving project grant applicants the tools and guidance they need to plan, improve and deliver their marketing and audience development activity.

She is known for her dynamic and creative approach to partnership working and has a passion for collaborative working to support businesses to become more sustainable.
