Jessica Lloyd-Jones is a visual artist based in North Wales, with a First Class Honours degree in Fine Art and MFA in Sculpture from Edinburgh College of Art in 2007. Merging art, science and technology, her work explores concepts of energy and natural phenomena through the experimental use of materials and creation of light based sculpture and installations.

Residencies have included an International Visiting Artist Fellowship in 2008 at UrbanGlass, New York, where she developed her ‘Anatomical Neon’ sculptures and more recently, a Makers Using Technology residency at PDR (National Centre for Product Design and Development Research) Cardiff, 2014.

Awards include a Royal British Society of Sculptors Bursary, London 2009, Glass Art Society Emerging Artist Lecture Award, Kentucky 2010 and an Arts Council of Wales Creative Wales Award 2012. Recent exhibitions include a solo show at Summerhall, Edinburgh 2014 and international exhibitions at the Museo di Palazzo Poggi in Bologna, Italy and the Musee de la Main in Lausanne, Switzerland 2013.

Alongside exhibiting nationally and internationally, Jessica has developed her work extensively in public art and digital art fields, including large scale mapping projections for Blinc Digital Arts Festival 2011 and 2012, and Adelaide Festival Australia 2015. She has recently been commissioned to produce a permanent wind responsive architectural lighting commission for Plas Heli Sailing Academy, Pwllheli 2015.

International projects

International exhibitions include SOFA (New York) 2010, Second European Triennial of Ceramic and Glass (Mons, Belgium) 2010, Fraser Gallery (Maryland, USA) 2010, Musee de la Main (Switzerland) 2013 and Museo di Palazzo Poggi (Bologna, Italy) 2013. Jessica has been a recipient of an International Visiting Artist Fellowship at UrbanGlass, New York undertaking a two month residency in 2008 and has also been a recipient of the Glass Art Society, Emerging Artist Lecture Award held in Louisville, Kentucky 2010.
