Arts Council of Wales | Code of Best Practice

Code of Best Practice

Arts Council of Wales will at all times observe the highest standards of impartiality, integrity and objectivity in its stewardship of public funds and its management of other bodies.

In accordance with its policy of carrying out its work with the highest standards of integrity, efficiency and openness, the Council has approved this Code of Best Practice.

The Council's Standards

The Code sets out the standards which are required - and which the public has the right to expect - of all those who are involved in the Council’s business. This includes the:

  • members of Council
  • the members of Committees
  • National List of Advisers
  • Arts Council staff

It also lays down certain procedures that are designed to implement the principles embodied in the Code or to give specific rights to members of the public.

Funded Organisations

A copy of the Code will be sent to all the Council's revenue funded organisations and will be given to other recipients of grant aid on request.

Arts Council of Wales also has a Code of Practice for Funded Organisations. This can only be implemented through active co-operation of organisations and individuals engaged in arts activity, and Arts Council of Wales expects those who receive grants to implement effective equal opportunities policies and use this code of practice as a guide.
